Front Strut ID

Can anyone whose familiar with front struts ID this one. They have been replaced at an OPC sometime in the car's past - I'm guessing Boge or Sachs? The screw on cap has 2 recesses cut into the edge of the top which looks like they would take a 'C' spanner.
Also anyway of telling what springs you've got once the paint has worn off?
Thanks

That's a Boge strut so can take a new insert of your choice, but Bilstein B6 are the best IMO. You need a really big wrench and vice to remove the cap and a bucket to collect the old damper fluid and gubbins.

Once the paint spots have worn away there's no way of telling which springs you have without testing them with a poundage meter/press...

Thanks for that, appreciate the recommendation but as I've loads things to take the money to update the car, I'll probably go for Boge inserts & rear shocks which are half the price of the Bilsteins.
Whereabouts on the springs if the colour mark? I've found new Suplex springs for £75 a pair online so might change those as well - although I can't say I've come across that manufacturer before so don't know about the quality?
