Front Strut

Hi people

Easy question for you all, can the front strut from a 1985 car fit straight on a 1987 944S ?

regards

Dave S

I don't think so, as that is either side of the ABS changeover. Also an '85 car may be square dash in which case it used pressed steel lower arms rather than alloy, which could be different dimensioanly again.

Where the shock bolts to the hub (with the 2 bolts) it is thinner on the later cars, ,so no unless the inserts can be swapped around ??

Yes I think the space between the strut eccentric bolt and mounting bolt is different, although I think I may have seen a post on rennlist where someone enlarged the eccentric bolt hole slightly which allowed the correct spacing.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Dave K.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

The width is different and hole spacing is diferent, early cars have removable inserts later cars don't

Thanks guys

On Ebay clean looking struts for sale might have been handy to buy and put to one side for a rainy day. [8|]

I agree with Tony. The crossmember, top mounts and castor mount locations didn't change, so the whole lot can be transplanted, but not by mixing at matching pre- and post-87 together.
