Front suspension 'knock'

I had my near-side wishbone replaced recently due to knocking. A lot better, but I still have a knock from the driver's side (I think). Not as bad as the passenger side was though. I have taken the S2 for inspection to a local indy who looks after things, but reckons the wishbone is fine on the driver's side, and nothing else looks untoward "" although I am not sure whether he did check thoroughly... Are the ARB bushes suspect? The knock I have is apparent on uneven road mainly, not necessarily having to hit pot-holes! Trev, have just done (another!) set on a Turbo. The 2 main bushes had pretty much colapsed and squashed out the side of the vertical mounts. This caused the ARB to knock on the bottom of the housing for the air con compressor. Well worth doing as the originals will be knackered. It is a very easy job to do. Best to get the set and change the lot. You get new washers and Nylocs with the kit as well. Biggest pain is getting the inners out of the drop links. A wee bit of WD40 on the new ones and they pop in easily.

Yep Trev, they are the ones I use and seem to work very well. You need to order the 26.8mm ones for the S2 and Turbo,

Just to confirm different car, same problem had this on my recently departed M3 and it was the smaller bushes in the drop links. They were hard to trace even when the car was on a ramp because nothing appeared to have any play but knocking sounded quite severe on a bumpy road.

I was dead chuffed when £30 solved the problem and all was solid again[:)]
 
I had a similar knock and the arb nut wasn't as tight as it should have been. Have now upgraded arb and bushes but just tightening it up fixed it.
