front suspension

I suspect my 924S Le Mans is on it's original front shocks - it has the original adjustable front units - like this one ...

I'm going to replace all suspension rubber at the front as it generally feels sloppy. How do I determine if the shocks need replacing? Corner bounce test? How do I tell if the top suspension mounts are shot?
I see these inserts from GSF - P44010 SHOCK INSERT BQ GAS FR 924 49.80 and these from Eurocar Parts...

BOGE Shock Absorber (Front) 924 S (Coupe)Years: 09/85-06/88 Engine: 2479cc 8v 4Cyl £58.48

has anyone any experience of either ? I'm thinking I need the GSF inserts to retain the adjustment on my originals. Another option would be to re-seal my originals. Does anybody in the UK do this kind of work at reasonable price? Steve

This is a job that eternally needs sorting on my '83 924, but (fingers crossed as my MOT is this Friday) it still gets through the MOT.

To be fair the dampers seem to do a fair job, but there are times when it all seems a bit 'floaty' at speed.

This is one area that I'd like to know more about, and I'm not interested in upgrading anything, just restoring what they were like when new, and not paying a lot of money.

Truth is I'd quite like to lower it a few cm too, but that is for another day and budget.

According to Peter Morgan's book, the '88 S Le Mans differs from the standard S in having gas-filled shockers so you will need to check that the GSF and Europart parts are in fact the right ones. If they're for a standard S then the chances are they're not the correct ones for a Le Mans.
