A 944 should never rest for long, so take a Sunday morning drive to Cornbury House on 6th April 2008.
Come and meet at this unique Porsche Club event which features every front engine Porsche road car model 924, 924 Carrera GT, 944, 968, 928 as well as the new generation Cayenne model.

If you wish you can also sign up in advance for the optional 50 mile FrontRun starting and ending at Cornbury House. It will cost you £5 (provisional price) to get on the starting list, apply via your Register Secretary to be sure of a place. You will receive a sticker, a tulip map, a rally plate for your car, this year will feature checkpoints to find and log. Once you have completed the route you will also receive a certificate "" PCGB members only "" 50 car limit - and 944 models are only allocated a small number of places - so book up early!

If you wish to learn more about using tulip maps and taking part in non competitive road rallies them please contact Eoin Sloan on racecar(at)porscheclubgb.com or on 01225 722681, he will give you more details about a Rally Driver/Navigation School day on 30th March 2008 just prior to FrontRunner at:

Heritage Motor Centre
Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwickshire
CV35 0BJ
www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk

Also bring all your front engine Porsche spare parts and pass them onto those that can put them to good use at the FrontRunnerJumble, it will cost you nothing to sell your bits and pieces, just sell your items from the boot of your car, this means you can bring along those small items that you normally couldn't sell "" no tables or vans allowed.

There will also be special display cars in Cornbury House, Register model displays outside, a food van to keep you going for snacks on the day.

Hope to see you there.

2/1/2008 - Car limit amended to 50
10/1/2008 - Date of Gaydon navigation day added

Hi All,

I've had the details for Frontrunners through. Apart from the meet, the autojumble, the CLub HQ and the food van there will be a rally in the afternon. Strictly limited numbers apply, so if you are interested please send me a cheque for £5 to "PCGB Frontrunner" to secure your place, along with an SAE for the documentation.

The rest of the event is free, but the rally WILL sell out fast so first come, as they say!

6th?

Alas - we are away that weekend! Otherwise I'd be very interested (even though I'm not a PCGB member!)

Have a really good time chaps.

Oli.

To be honest there's not much point going if you're not a member. The Club office, with all it's facilities, is members only, along with the organised rally, autojumble etc. Usually a crowd of regulars from the 944 Register go for a pub meal afterwards.

There's no reason why anyone can't turn up on the day and wander around. I'd say it was worth doing as a way of meeting a few people but it is largely a Club event and as such more relevant to members. Frontrunners was my first Club event, and as long as I made the effort to introduce myself, and ask for the people I knew from the forums to be pointed out to me, it was great.

I'll be there [:)]

(that should guarantee a record LOW turnout [8|] )

Is it true that the Asst Register Sec pays for the pub lunch, or just a vicious rumour....[;)]

I am now almost certainly going to attend - anyone else going from the North West who fancies cruising down in convoy?

Time to delete my userid and buy a false beard and dark glasses

I'll be travelling down from Lytham, but I'm toying with the idea of staying somewhere the night before. If that changes, I'll get in touch and arrange to meet somewhere if you like.

Could SWMBO and I be counted as honorary regulars for the day please, so we can join you for the pub meal?

Cornbury House opens at 10am.
Rally starts at noon
I will be on site to organise show cars and fasty food outlet at 8.30.
