FROZEN ZIP

The rear screen zipper on my cabriolet is effectivly frozen. - Lack of use presumably? Has anybody else experienced this problem and come up with a cure! I've been applying anti-seize periodically, for some while, with zero result!

I also had this problem 2 years ago, similarly due to lack of use. I believe that an oxide layer has formed between the teeth which has to be broken. I used an aerosol glide spray but a lot of force was required to move the zip just an inch or so.
I repeated this tooing and froing of the zip moving an extra inch or so each time and putting some light oil on the teeth. Eventually I managed to free the whole zip. It was not easy and I was worried that the zip may break at any point in the process.

Good luck

You can get silicon spray cans which would help but an effective longer term solution to keeping the zip free (once you have freed off the sticking zip using the silicon) is to lightly rub a candle along the teeth. You don't have to press down on the candle just allow it to slide along the zip. The candle grease should stay on the zip for a reasonable time.
Cheers,
