Have access to some other wheels I really like, so selling my 17" Cup II Wheels & Tyres.

The wheels are recently refurbished, so like new (immaculate and straight) and the tyres really are brand-new (20 miles max) Dunlop SportMax RTs in 225/45 ZR17 and 255/40 ZR 17.

Sale would include the necessary spacers and longer bolts for fitment to a 944.

Some more info: Fronts are 7.5" with ET52. Rears are 9" with ET 47.

Will also fit 964s and 993s, I believe. Stud pattern is 5x130 on both wheels.

Price now £1000. Tyres alone are worth £600.....

Russ, if there are no markings at either side of the valve then I would suggest from the ETs quoted that those are replica cup 2s. I am pretty sure there are no cup 2s in Et 47 but Mille miglia made reps in those sizes.

Front offset should be 63mm for a 7.5" wheel and the 9" rears should be either ET55 or ET70 (#128.00 & 128.01). Sorry.

Ok guys, that's no problem (to me, anyway).

They've been on the car for more than a decade, so they seem to do the job just fine!

The price bubble seems to be bursting. There are still a few clonwns trying to sel their wheels singly a comical prices, but people seem to have realised that the Cup2 isnt the stongest or the lightest wheel in motorsport sizes, which is what the myth suggested and what trigered the ridiculous price rises.

Simon,
Are you saying that £100 a wheel in as-new condition is too much? That's effectively £50 a wheel in normal condition.....

Russ

No Russ, I am saying that the chancers who are listing each Cup2 wheel separately at £300-odd are trying to profiteer on the back of a bubble that has already burst.

Supply and demand though Simon.

For as long as someone pays top dollar for Cup 2's or whatever else in 'en vogue' - then that's what the sellers will ask for them.

I personally think the Cup 2's are probably the best looking 17" wheel for the 944, but I never bother looking at them as I expect them to cost far more than I'd ever want to pay for second hand rims.

These look great Russ, even though they are replicas, Mille Miglia still make a good quality wheel. GLWTS.

Thanks Gents.
They are great looking wheels, but I have my eyes on something a little more OEM.....although if no-one buys the Cups, I'll still be happy :)

Cup IIs have to be one of my favourite wheels on a 944 although that may not be the case for everyone.

CS wheels it has to be said are 'the' wheels for a 944 (maybe not on my car mind you), although bear in mind wheel technology has moved on. Whilst not my favourite design of wheel, 996 Carrera wheels and Boxster wheels weigh the same as the Forged CS wheels, and give you a much wider choice in tyres. But then you cannot put a price on style and nostalgia :).

Chas!
Now you've confused me :)

Interesting info; I have always really liked 996 Carreras........dang!

Always liked Cups and Cup IIs as well, to be honest; part of what caught my eye when buying the car in the first place.

However, I think I'd prefer 16" 45-section tyres to help out my old-tech M030 suspension.

Hallsy

Working on CSes......still ongoing.

Chas - it's both those facts that keep my 996 Carrera wheels on my 944 at the moment, but as you say, for nostalgia sake I think I will end up replacing them with some 16's, either Tele's, D90's or CS Forged. Ideally I'd like some CS Forged, but you don't often see them for sale.

And when you do theyre frequently knackered. Ive seen a number of sets made so thin by refurbishers that theyre dangerous.

IIRC don't the spokes crack anyway on some sets due to their Magnesium composition (or part magnesium?)

More research on these:

Found out that these are MilleMiglias, which were built under license from Porsche AG and have TÃœV approval.

They were refurbished by Pristine Wheels.

Yes - they suffer from fatigue
