Fuch sizes stamp?

Where on an original Fuch can you see the actual wheel size, is there a stamp on the inside?

From memory you should see the foxes head, size and offset? on the inside on one of the spokes. On a dirty wheel its not especially obvious but it should be there if you have a close look.

Cheers

Andy

100% correct - its on the inside of the spokes, Fox's head on one spoke and the size and offset on another IIRC.

Alternatively post a picture of the car and we can all have good old debate/guess as to wheel size.

We could also play three guesses: Fronts are fitted with 205/55, backs 225/50?

so is that

a) 6 & 7's
b) 7 & 8's
c) neither of the above

Hi Beaky,

I'm guessing that you are considering going for the 8s and 7s look and want to know what to look for if you have found a genuine matching pair of 8s. Good luck.

Brian.

What is confusing is that per P Morgan, the options upgrade for 3.2 between 84 - 88 were 7x16 & 8x16 as opposed to the std 15's, so have I got 8's on the back as my option code suggest?

If not I know it's like finding gold dust getting a pair of 8's or the prices are sky high........even in the US a pair on eBay at $800

If you turned your photo avatar round a few degrees we could very quickly tell you if you had 6 and 7 or 7 and 8. It's tricky to tell the difference between an 8 and a 9 without a real close up - but that's just complicating the issue ! My guess is that you will have 6 and 8 (if you have an 8 upgrade option code !)

Jasmine recently quoted me £250 plus vat each for a good used 16x9. As the 7s bolt straight up in the front its not outrageous money (in Porsche terms anyway).

I must admit, your avatar does give the faintest suggestion of 7s and 8s so who knows...

use "Post Reply" button and you will see something like "Click here to upload" which wil allow you to search your hard drive for the file. Then there is an "Imbed picture" (or similar wording) which does exactly as it says.

Here is one from the archives with 6s and 7s:

6's up front and hard to tell re the rears. If they sit about an inch and a half inboard of the rear arches as per the Red car you have 7s. If they really fill the arches you have 8s. BTW, I have never seen 6/8s on anything other than 89 Carreras - on which they were standard. Quite a few European cars seem to have the 7/8x15 Fuchs option but the vast, vast majority of UK cars have 6/7x16.

In the below picture you can see 7/9s - but 8s look virtually identical.

That's quite a good picture of the rim shapes. I assume that 9" rims have the extra 1" inboard, as they look just like my 8".

Yes, about quarter inch outboard and three quarters inboard. Look at the post from a couple of months ago with the chart showing offsets graphically and all will be clear.

Confirmed 6's & 7's, now thw search begins for a pair of reasonably priced 8's, I'm over in Germany on business in sept, maybe I'll try and source them there, in the UK & US prices are steep for a second hand pair
