Fuchs refurb (painting)

Hi guys I managed earlier in the year to pick up a mint set of early offset Fuchs for the 86 Turbo. Their condition is very good and the existing paint superb.. only problem being its WHITE! I want them black (matt/gloss tbc) anyone know of a good company that wont cost a bomb that can sand them back a bit and apply the correct colour? I might be being a tad dumb here and this could just be a job for a decent paint shop which im sure ill have locally?

Im Sidcup (Kent)

Thanks in advance

Ian

Some years back I acquired a set of Compomotive 3 piece wheels with the paint flaking off the center sections. My local body shop had them stripped and then repainted them for me. Only had the car a couple of years after but the finish on the wheels was holding up fine.

ah great that's what I thought. id envisage they only need to sand them down a little bit, for some primer then the final coloured coast?

The only thing to watch out for is that the outer silver area of the wheel is an anodised finish which is not at all straightforward to refurb, so you should make sure whoever is painting the wheels is aware of this and doesn't damage them. The wheels were originally, I understand, all satin black in the centre but you could specify having them painted the same colour as the car when specifying the car. Maybe the black is still there under the white.

Hi, I think the polished rim area is near perfect and requires no attention. ill make sure that protected for sure.

Anodizing has a dull, matt type finish and therefore the outer rim should not be polished.

Sanding/polishing of an anodized surface should be avoided as it will produce a nasty dust of a cancer variety.

You are in Kent. Try "Spit and Polish" in Tonbridge or, Sevenoaks or something. Made a superb job of my RS6 wheels on the T4 [8D][:)].

Expect to pay 200/300 why don't you give them ago yourself. Use grease and tape to mask up the polish rim. If you make a mess get them done.
