Fuchs "style" alloy wheels..

Hi folks,

I would like to put a set of Fuchs on my 1990 951.

I believe there are Fuchs with a 951 part number but they were for early 951's that had a different offset to the later car like mine, and I cannot find any info as to whether they would fit.

There a few Fuchs replicas on ebay..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_o...RC0.H0.Xfuchs+17"&_nkw=fuchs+17"&_sacat=14770

..and in they do them in 17".. Ideal! They all seem to be listed to fit 911's, no mention of 944's..

A couple of questions..

Will they fit my car?
If so what offset do I order?
Are they any good?

Thanks!

From my own searching the only Fuchs type wheel that will fit a late offset car are the actual genuine new 17" Fuchs forged wheels, they list an offset that would fit a late 944. The only factor then that applies is cost, with a good tyre it's gonna be somewhere past £2500

Thanks for that Paul.
Yes £2500 is a little steep, a replica set (and tyres) can be done for little over half of that.

When you were looking, did you contact the suppliers of the rep wheels to confirm if they did a wheel that would fit?

I also have a 944 s2, it had 18" et52 and Et65 on it when I bought it (I changed them for d90's).... So I'm just a little confused what the offset on the 951 is!?!

Compare on Price £ and compare on weight KG

I think some rep's could be made of concrete

As a rule of thumb, 1KG unsprung is worth 6KG of sprung weight

I did lots and lots of research, all the Fuch reps are geared towards early air cooled off set, I'm afraid there was no other option than genuine forged Fuchs for our late cars, I love the look of a black Fuch on a red 944 but I just can't justify the price .......at the moment

Cheers, Paul

Following your link - the page allows you check compatible vehicles. So 944 1990 2.5 turbo - boo - does not fit. Doesn't say why tho - no offsets listed in their "specifications". As per others - the only 17" fuchs I've seen are the new "sport classic" fuchs which are quite expensive. Caymens came with a 17" 5 spoke wheel that is "fuchs-ish" but I haven't found specs for them so can't say about widths and offsets but I fear they may be narrow....

The compatible vehicles list is only as good as the guy who listed it. Just because it doesn't list my car doesn't mean it will not fit.

I have emailed the supplier to find out the available offsets.

The 17" 7J ET40 replica wheels will fit, but are too narrow for the rear...I'd be looking for 8J or more

Might be easier to sell your turbo and buy an earlier one - pre-abs offset, will fit the "deep dish" Fuchs and will look even better

I have been in comms with suppliers, and it would appear the above posts are correct..the rep wheels will not fit my car. The only option for Fuchs on a late 951 is a brand new genuine set of Fuchs 7J and 9J, available from Design911 for £1920 (inc VAT). Then obviously another £500 odds on half decent rubber. Shouldn't really even be considering replicas, they are likely crap metal and too heavy.

I am really keen on the Fuchs look (especially on a red car), so I'll probably go for a new set. The car itself is really clean so it can pull them off. Just need to sell a few bits and bobs to soften the blow first!

For the front engined-cars the 8" Fuchs wheels can be use on the font axle instead of the 7". That's mentioned somewhere on the Fuchs site.
