evening chaps

has anyone used this oil, Fuchs Titan Race Pro R 15W-50 Ester Fully Synthetic Engine Oil.... I was trying to find my preferred make Mobil 1 15/50w but have found that it's been discontinued, while searching for alternatives this Fuschs oil was stated as being suitable.

Hello,

I used it for a while without finding it better or worse than the Motul 300V, but shortly after started using Millers CFS 15W50 NT.

Hi TTM

I've heard of Millers products before... not heard of Fuschs... I took a look at the spec of the Millers and like what I see..... looks like a good oil for my engine.....this may be the one unless anyone else knows better...:)

Cheers

Pete

Im a fan of millers too, currently using 10w50 CFS triple ester.

In fact I just ordered a litre from OPIE via ebay ÂŁ11.99 posted, told them I needed it in a hurry as I have an unplanned road trip and two days later its here [:)]

I used millers 10w60 in my turbo - very good I thought. Usage on track was very low
(I use cheap Petronas 10w40 in the S2 now - no need for fancy oils..)

The Millers CFS NT is probably the one that I observed to hold its honey colour the longest among all the other "premium" oils I have used - Castrol RS/Edge 10W60, Motul 300V 15W50, Valvoline VR1 15W50, Fuchs Titan Pro R 15W50.

I also use a dual ball bearing turbo which I think is probably quite hard on the oil as ball bearings probably generate quite a bit more heat than journal bearings.

As the Millers NT is apparently one of the dearest oils, before filling it in I emptied the oil cooler(s) so that the new oil would not mix too much with the residues of the previous one.

Fuchs bought Silkolene. This is a Silkolene oil rebranded. I had some Pro-R in a 944 and it is superb, in my experience.

I used the Fuchs pro s 15 50 in my turbo and it was great, also used a 5w 40 of it in an audi s4 I had and it was good at time, was going to put same in my elise recently but guy at opie said millers was on offer and was same spec so went for that.

Been using the Titan Race Pro S in the 924 turbo for 5 years. Totally happy so far, but it never stays in for more than 5000 miles due to the regular spanking my engine gets

Don't let Oli see that ;-)

Ditto, It was recommended when I bought my car with a rebuilt Perfectbore block, and I have used it since with 7000 mile change intervals.

Source it from OPIE in "bulk" as the N.IRL carriage can be costly. Cant recall exact oil cost.

My 944 runs on Fuchs 10/40 semi and my 997 on Fuchs GT1 5/40 no problems, i also get it at trade price through a matey [;)]

Hi guys

I decided to give Millers a go, ordered 10 Ltrs last night from Opie ...I should have finished the bedding in by the time it arrives, Saturday I will do another oil change for fresh mineral oil, complete the bedding in process and then put the Millers in. I'll feel safe then, as a rule I don't like using mineral oil, I'm to heavy footed...:)

Ester oils are great if you REALLY push the car hard but obviously are expensive...

Personally I use Total Quartz Racing 10w50 as it can be bought for a very reasonable price and is from a big name with lots of direct motorsport involvement. My 951 seems to like it a lot, but it stays where it should as it only uses a VERY small amount (IIRC max 0.5l over 3k miles before I changed it).

+1 for Total Quartz. Very low usage, well priced and from a decent company as mentioned. I am not major hard on my car, mostly pottering with the occasional blast and the oil works fine for my needs.

Interesting topic bedding in, my car had 2000 miles when I acquired it, (uses about 3ml of oil on a 7k miles change interval which I put down to BB turbo seals and the bore seal, valve guides etc etc)

The engine now has 45000 miles, but the tightness in the new engine took about 20,000 miles to fully go away, I reckon a few thousand on mineral after the build would have been a good idea. I'd be interested in how it works for you Pete.

If Oli used the same oil that some others use in their turbos, his S2 would definitely go slower anyway.
