Well, I picked up my 996 on Saturday [:D] but sadly its rained ever since [:(]

Oh well, can't have everything I guess.

Two quick questions please:

1. which petrol, 98 or 95 RON? Is there a definate benefit / improvement in running the higher rating on a non-turbo car?

2. For anyone that has fitted / hardwired a camera detector unit - which one did you go for and where did you mount it please? (pictures would be great if possible)

Thanks

Guy

If you open your fuel flap it has a sticker stating the recommended fuel RON by Porsche, mine says 98RON! I get better mileage out of the 99RON Shell V-Power for my daily city run use and also believe the added cleaners on most higher octane fuel is good for the car. Your car will run on 95, so it is entirely your choice.

It's designed to run optimally on 98 Ron - I too use 99 Shell where possible.

It will run on 95 but retards the ignition to do so. I'd bet it would be hard to measure, but performance will be reduced this way.
People usually report better milage on the 98/99 as well.[:)]

Hi Guy.

I like the Tom Tom myself. They are cheap, you can take them out, they work well, and you get Sat Nav as well as a GPS based camera warning. I have fitted one in my last two cars. Hard wired into the interior lights curcit. That way they power on / off when you unlock the car. I fitted a GPS ariel under the plastic wiper scuttle, between the bonnet and windscreen, it never looses the signal. I have attached a couple of photos as I mounted them diffrently. Drop me a line if you want the full spec. Hope this helps. Bob

PS. Second pitcure to follow ( Can only send 1 per post ? )
