Fuel Consumption

I have had my 964 Turbo 2 for a couple of months now. On a decent run (100 miles), if I drive at a steady 75 mph it averages 20 mpg.

I was hoping for a little more but I understand it is a very high performance car. It has had a exhaust modification removing the rear silencer and replacing with a cross over pipe and it also has a 1 bar spring in the turbo. Not sure if this would make consumption worse.

Anybody out there know if this mpg is normal for a Turbo or do I need to get the mixture checked. If I drtiver it hard, I hate to think what itn will do! It doesn't help that fuel is a quid a litre of course but I can't see how people afford to tour in such a car..........

Finally, should I be running it on Super 97 or 98 Octane?

Thanks in advance.

You've not stated whether its a 3.3 or 3.6

I get 17mpg from my 3.6ltre 993 TT using 99 octane, it drops to 15 using 97 octane.

and 25mpg from my 944 Turbo using 95 ron.

Recommend you try a tank full of both fuels and drive it normally they appreciate being driven and it will probably be similar to my fuel consumption.

20mpg is the very best you can hope for (you're doing well to get that!). I get around 18-19mpg in my 93 3.3 Turbo2.

Oh, and anything rated 97 or over will be fine - you'll not likely see much difference with the old school ignition and fuelling setups on our cars :)

20 mpg sounds fantastic, hard to achieve that and I don´t think you could do much better.

If you give it a real handful, it´ll be a single digit car in a New York minute!
