Fuel Consumption.

Thought I'd try a top gear style fuel consumption challenge on the way to work today.
For 50 miles I kept the speed around 65mph on the M23/M25 and through the dartford crossing, with the roof up and the air con off.

I was quite surprised to get 38.2mpg. Normally I get 22 😜

I average 31.4 MPH over all sorts of lengths of trips.[:D] Better than my 3.0ltr SC which did about 22 MPH regardless!

Best I've had from my 4S is 34 mpg but that was when I first bought it & was pretty light footed.....

However on a recent trip to Europe covering 2100 miles, with extremely varying conditions it was 29.7 mpg & yes it did include some 3 digit mph readings on speedo..... [;)]

So how accurate is the readout

Surely you need to fill the car up do a reasonable mileage and read it out again

Just been over to Coninsby from Shrewsbury to watch the 2 Lancasters take off for the Air Shows in the South of England did almost exactly 300 miles took about 6 1/2 hours

All types of different roads - no motorways. Filed up before we went and when we got back - Average mileage 24 to the gallon

Car is a 3.4 2001 4S

Bit better than the Lancaster with uses a gallon a minute ON TAXING per minute per engine!!!

I've been told by a porsche specialist mechanic that using the higher RON 98 fuels give you more MPG over say 95

You can get more in the boot of the Lanc though 😜

There is supposed to be a big difference between the 3.4 and the 3.6 Normally aspirated
So is it worth mentioning which model you have
