FUEL CONSUMPTION

Hi all,

Im thinking about purchasing a Cayenne or Cayenne S, probably would be an 05 to 07 reg, not sure yet. I understand there are two engine choices at this age, a 3.2V6 or a 4.2V8.
I am curious to know what average miles you guys are reading for a car that is used for knocking about, B roads etc.

I have a 993 and a Boxster S and I leave the trip computer alone never reset it, and these read 21mpg for the 993 and 23mpg for the boxster, I am guessing the Cayenne would be at least 20mpg, what do you all think?

I know I can look at the stated figures from the manufacturer, but would prefer the horses mouth.

Kind regards

Stephen

Not a great difference between the 3.6 the 4.5 or the 4.5 turbo to be honest

Around town our 4.5 got about 12, on a run 24. The turbo does about the same

I think 20 is a bit optimistic!

Stephen looking at your current fuel consumption figures for your 993 and Boxster 20 mpg is adventurous as you seem a little heavy on the pedal. I would predict some where nearer 16/17mpg and the consumptions is fairly similar for all the models i.e. no benefit from a 3.2v6, if you want better consumption you need to go for the diesel model.

Hi All

I have had a 3.2 tiptronic for 6 years if i dont reset the computer for a few weeks or months it always reads between 20-21 mpg.

On a mixed road run from Gloucester to Devon it returns about 25-26 mpg oround town about 18mpg.

best wishes

My experience over two cars, both V8's, and over 80k miles each, was an average of 19 mpg. you can get less if you are in traffic a lot, and improve a little on motorway trips. Good luck with your search.

My 2005 4.5S gives 18 -19 [:(] on the station run (6 miles each way), between 20 and 22[8|] on slightly longer runs, with an alltime high of 23.5[:)][:)][:)] on a steady Autoroute run at around 80, fully loaded with family and holiday stuff! But I'm sure it would be very easy to get too excited and end up in the mid-teens.....

Those figures are the same as mine pretty much, when my 06 MY S was new I took it skiing and on the German motorways opened it up a bit...OMG I could almost see the petrol gauge moving back to the left...it was almost faster to drive slower because on a long trip you have to stop less[:D]
Gentle right foot is the way to go,on long trips now I play a game with myself to see how long I can keep the MPG in the 20s[:D]

Hi All..

Ive just come back from Germany with the Pig, never missed a beat and what a barn storming engine it has......maybe all toll roads should be turned into Autobahns with variable limits for safety? Just a thought :)

Cheers

I've now clocked 18,000 in a year of owning the Turbo S, its been 20.5 mpg and thats on normal unleaded I tend to use the manual change on the tip as it holds 6th far longer for long runs, having the air suspension really came in handy this weekend due to water filled country roads and was able to jack the car well clear of the wet stuff. After years of Land and Range Rover products and a previous Cayenne S this is really the cream of the crop just a shame that residuals have dived just hope I can afford to hang onto it for another year.
