0280 161 015 Lists for the Turbo, the one you list as original is much more expensive, the turbo one will be fine

Off topic but isn't it interesting that a Turbo part is less expensive than an interchangeable part for an S2. A recent article on the 968 described the development process and marketing influence that created the 968 instead of the 944 S3. The engineers wanted S3 because the car was a development of the 944 but marketing wanted a "new" model. The most interesting information in the article was how Ulrich Bez deemed the 968 a success even with low sales because they made a very good profit per car...in spite of the 968 being priced lower than the S2. I have no doubt that would have been for minimum spec and you might not have been able to buy one at that level outside of Germany, but still...makes you wonder what the profit was on S2s.

Maybe start a new thread on this? interesting....

The 968 price was very high 35K? and was dropped with the CS model's differences to sell more 30K? what price was an S2 in 1993 ?

The 968 was more profitable than the S2 probably because it did without this terribly expensive fuel damper... :p

I believe that it was the series three 944, and not the 944 S3 which seems to be becoming a popular distortion.

whatever you guys think, but the standard 968 came with leather faced seats not cloth so i respect i guess it was a bargain basement car,

my 968 invoice says 38k with the CUP1's and CS wheel added on order

looking at those prices makes me think of when i could have bought " eddy spaghettis " turbo ... jasonp

I remember from the delivery invoice for my 968 coupe that it was just over £40k OTR (£40,240 IIRC), tip rather than manual, Porsche cloth 1/2 leather standard seats (no cost option) and no cost options. She was ordered in late 1993 and delivered April 1994, so had the airbag steering wheel - and 16" cup 1's IIRC.

I realise this is a late reply, but getting back the original question:

the turbo has a 2.5 Bar FRR
the S2 has a 3.0 bar FPR.

Series 3 ? or S3 for short maybe ???

In 1989. Shortly after the start of production of the S2 variant, Porsche engineers began working on another set of significant upgrades for the 944 model, as executives were planning a final "S3" variant of the 944. During the development phase, 80% of the 944's mechanical components were either significantly modified or completely replaced by the engineers, leaving so little of the outgoing S2 behind that Porsche management chose to introduce the variant as a new model, calling it the 968.
