Fuel economy

I have a 2.7 lux, 30mpg with the misses in the car on A roads and motorway, 26 mpg on my own !!!

Not much help since mine is an 'S' but I get 11mpg in town and 34mpg with mom in the car on the motorway at the speed limit. (she is not averse to dishing out a cuff to the ear if things get leary). These figures are using Optimax. I get 10% worse consumption if I use proleteriate juice.

28.8mpg Optimax overall. Automatic with Promax chip. Optimax £1.04 ltr, therefore £20 will buy you 131.86812 miles approximately[:D] Do you really still buy petrol in £20 lots???

My 2.5 Auto will do 32 mpg on a run. Based on that and given that petrol is 93.9p litre around here I would say 150 miles, so that is 13.333p per mile.[:)]
When I first started driving I would put £2 (eight gallons!) in my car each week, and most weeks that included a 200 mile round trip to Sheffield to see my girlfriend. If you are reading this A.M. then you were worth all that petrol I used to use coming over to see you.[:)]
Cheers,

My '86 2.5 is averaging just over 30mpg in mixed traffic/motorway conditions using Optimax - £20 should get you 135 miles or so. Driven gently, which, frankly is not that often (!) it does well over 35mpg or 157 miles depending how much Optimax costs near you.

Coming back from up North this xmas, I had to keep the speed down to 65-70mph due to wheel vibration (knackered tyres due to tracking out, i think).

My 944S2 returned 36mpg, which I think is amazing for a 3.0L car!

I've been really sad with my car (S2 Cab) and I've kept accurate details of my mileage so far (It won't last!)

Here it is:

888 Miles, 154.6 litres, 26.1 mpg, 125 miles for £20 at 91.9 per litre.

I've not driven particularly carefully, and there's a noticeable difference if I drive at a steady 70+ (135 miles for £20) as opposed to lots of gear changes round country lanes (117 miles for £20).

It's interesting to read about Optimax being so much better. I think I'll try that next....

I've just done the same over 1000miles and getting between 22 & 23mpg, not bad for a turbo, or is it me driving too sensible?
