fuel filler flap....bit sticky

Hi all

As it says above, went to fill up and the release knob was very tight to pull. Had a look earlier and sprayed some lubricating/freeway fluid on the end of the cable but as you can only see bout 1/4" of cable it didn't really help. The release is working but very tight and would like to do something before it siezes or snaps. Anyone ever stripped it down? Easy or 'mare?

Cheers

Dave.

Did mine just one month ago: -

To the right of the fuel filler pipe you should see the cable protruding through the filler cap hinge.

On the cable should be a bolt like retaining screw, undo the screw that holds the bolt onto the cable, then gently pull the bolt off over the end of the cable making sure not to drop it - If the cable is to long you may need someone to pull the cable from the inside of the car.

Once the bolt is off simply pull cable completely out from inside the car.

Once you have greased/oiled the cable, squirt some WD40 into the cable hole/tube being careful that no excess WD40 runs down onto the dash

Installation is just the reverse process, you may need to wiggle the cable a little as the cable tube twists from the dash into the wing

Whole job is a 15/20 minute job, Good luck,

Thanks beaky

Was going to pull the cable through but was unsure about getting the cable back in but shall have a go this weekend. Cheers for advice.

Dave.
