Fuel gauge

Hi

when I got the car, the fuel gauge was working fine (I think i have broke it [:mad:])

the story unfolds as, the speedo odometer wheel was broken, I fixed this by taking one from another dash pod, and put it all back together, took it for a spin around the block to see if the speedo was ok, it was and everything was fine.

Yesterday got in the car to move it, and noticed that the fuel gage was saying full (it is not its about 1/4) turned off the engine and turned on the ignition and got the correct reading, when I start the engine the gauge goes straight to full

Anybody seen this before I break out the multimeter and start to diagnose whats wrong, if i have shorted out something etc
