Fuel gauge

Hello

I used the car on Friday put it in the garage, with the fuel light on, not often something I do. Today decided to go for a run started the car and the gauge showed over a quarter of a tank and the range also showed around the correct miles relating to reading on the gauge. I went to fill it up and all seems ok but now I am not 100% sure.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

Cheers Phil

If I rarely let mine go below a quarter full, and then put some in but not full, it doesn't register it. Sorts itself when shes filled up to full again.

The C4, GT3, and Turbo have a 'saddle' tank, in which the level sensor only reads the top 3/4 of the tank. From 1/4 empty, it calculates the level based on fuel consumption. There is an explanation here: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=346360

Not sure why it happened in your case, unless the battery was low perhaps?

I think the onboard computer is quite generous (which is quite a good thing).

Thanks for the responses, the battery should not be low, however I do plug it into a CTEK to keep it in good condition, so not sure if this could have caused a problem. I think on my next outing I will fill it to the brim and keep an eye on it.

I never let the light go on but had no choice on this instance.

Thanks Phil
