Fuel injection problem

I`ve just spent the last week trying to locate a fuel pressure regulator for the 944, I`ve tried all the usual people (Bert Gear,Porscheshop,my local Porsche OPC ( and through them), Reading).I`ve been told that Porsche no longer stock this item, so I`ve been on the Bosch website to locate a stockist to no avail.
The Porsche part No is 944-110-198-01.
The Bosch No is 0-280-160=214.
As the same part is used by BMW, Volvo, and probably VW. Can anyone recommend a UK supplier?Googling the part No throws up a few US and Australian sources, but nothing from the UK. Surely it`s possible to get one locally?

My neighbour had one fitted by a local fuel injection/bosch specialist recently without any trouble. Problem is, he's on holiday at the moment and I can't ask him....

Try asking a local garage who they use, must be someone near you!

Thanks chaps,I`ve rung a couple of locals who feature on the Bosch site and they want to fix the car rather than sell me the part so I can fix it myself.I find it hard to believe that I can`t get it from Porsche, what`s Porsche classic supposed to be all about?

IIRC it was only an hour's labour from the Bosch specialist, and I'm sure that if Porsche sold a branded part it would cost more than that anyway...[&:]

JR, I can't believe Porsche no longer stock them - they stock every part for every model they've ever made. In theory you should be able to build a brand new 944 from its component parts if you had the inclination. Are you sure this isn't a case of operator error on the part of the chap on the other end of the phone? Maybe give another OPC a call to double check it. Also it is a 5 minute job so not worth being charged an hours labour for. You pull off the vacuum hose, unscrew the two bolts with a socket, pull the regulator off the fuel rail making sure you have an absorbent rag to catch the fuel that will pour out of the regulator (about an egg cup's worth), unscrew the fitting at the other end. To refit is just a reversal of the process. Five mins easy, ten if you take a break halfway through for a cuppa and a Rich Tea.

Thanks Scott, Ian and Steve,
I know whats involved as I last changed it about 10 years ago, I relieved the pressure at the fuel rail by running the engine with the fuel pump fuse removed to minimise the amount of petrol squirting.
I`m also inclined towards OPC parts guy being wrong, it wouldn`t be the first time,
I`ll also check out that site Ian as £80-odd quid from Porsche seems a bit excessive , as they`re for sale in the US for $60-odd from places like Pelican.
Ta!
