What colour should the standard injectors be in the 220 turbo? I noticed the other day that mine are green. Im just trying to get to the bottom of what exactly has been done to my car over the years tuning wise as i took a guy out for a spin the other day who had a standard 220 and all he could say, apart from lots of swearing was that mine was a lot quicker than his[8D]

They are black. It is best to understand what has been done to your car in order to make sure it has been done properly. These cars are not like modern cars in that if you change one aspect e.g the boost pressure, the rest of the system needs to be modified accordingly, whereas modern cars with modern MAF's and ECU's can cope with simply increasing boost pressure. There has been a number of stories over the years from people who have taken their cars to tuners who don't know 944's, who have extracted decent power gains only for something nasty to happen a few days or weeks down the line. It is probably a good sign that your injectors have been replaced though.

Thanks for the reply Scot. Im pretty sure the car was tuned and chipped many moons ago as the last owner had the car 6 years and says it had been done before he bought it. So thankfully no problems seem to have arisen due to the mods, yet.. Any ideas where i might find any info on different injectors so i can at least get some idea of what set up i have. Why oh why don't people keep bills!!!! I have bills going back to day one, then a big gap of none during the 90's then loads once again from the last owner.

The simplest thing to do would be to take the car to a local rolling road that can measure boost and the air fuel ratio across the rev range and get a simple power test. Should cost around £50 - £80 for one car or £25-£30 if part of a group Dyno Day. This will let you know if you are running standard 0.8bar boost and if your AFR is safe and not running lean. Another thing to do is to open up the ECU and look at the chip for a standard Porsche part number or an aftermarket sticker (just looking at the ECU will show you if it's ever been opened before as the metal tabs will be bent). Look at the DME section of the Garage Shop manual at [link=http://www.clarks-garage.com]www.clarks-garage.com[/link] Pictures also here http://members.rennlist.com/951_racerx/ChipsInstall.html

It's definitely not running lean on full boost as i get a whiff of unburnt fuel and it pops from the exhaust when changing gear when driving enthusiastically[:D] A friend told me it also kicks out a flame when it pops[:D] The boost gauge goes off the end of the scale when on full boost too. I know of a few rolling roads local to me and have been meaning to get it booked in. Il defiantly do it very soon as id love to know what bhp its kicking out. Cheers, Stu

Mine's going in for its annual service at the end of the month and there is a tuning company with a rolling road just around the corner from Unit 11 (Warrington) so I am tempted to get mine on the 'rollers of truth' to determine exactly what it is kicking out and that the A/F ratio is 'safe' throughout the rev range - still not got round to fitting a wideband sensor & gauge. Anyone else in the North West be interested if I established some prices/availability?

I am Nick[:D] One of the guys on the forum here had tried to organise one on the Wirral, which was a Dyno Dynamics Rolling Road. But we did not get enough takers. Shame really. They were offering a good rate and it was the correct dyno. Here they are: [link=http://www.dynodemon.co.uk/home.php?/rolling_road]http://www.dynodemon.co.uk/home.php?/rolling_road[/link] Do you know what type of rolling road it is? Dyno Dynamics is the preferred "Rollers of Truth" setup I believe as different ones will give different readings. Try to use the same make/setup of rolling road will give better true comparison with other 944's.

OK, let me find out what their setup is and we can get something organised somewhere[:)] Might end up just being us two though.....[8|]

This is the place I was referring to... [link=http://www.tdi-north.com/dyno.htm]http://www.tdi-north.com/dyno.htm[/link] I'll find out what type of dyno they have & report back... Stu, apologies for hijacking your thread....[8|][:)]
