Gav the thing is if the pipe is old then it' s scrap. It' s a lot of work to replace at a later date.
when you look under the car at the rear of the tank there are 3 plugs 2 large 1 small.
The small one is the drain.
The two large ones are a blank plug and the other is the brass fuel filter. (fuel finger)
It is very delcaite so don' t bashit. ( cleaning this is very very easy. Don' t try cleaning it with anything other than Hammerite Degreaser) it' s the only o ne that works . I use this stuff all the time it is new to the market and boy does it strip grease old fuel any thing it' s got sodium Hypochride (can' t spell) we used to use this at work it' s great but be carefull.
Leave the finger in a bath of this stuff and walk away 1 day and it will all have just dropped off.
Right the fuel finger has a rubber fuel pipe attached to it this is the pipe to get it on the fuel finger is easy it' s the other end that' s the pig. It is on to a metal pipe and I can' t get access to it I got the old one off and that was a pig to get off to I just had to cut the edge . This pipe looks fine but it' s got to be 30 years old and therefor duff and a danger. Change it . We just got to get to know how to get it on the pipe. Then it is done for another 10 years....cool
Oh the Pet 5 got that ....there is not much on the lit for the 912 or 356 or Porsche that I don' t have all the good books about 50 sales brochures from 1954 + so I am well covered but still not any info that I need grrrrr.
I have a Genuine, not a copy of the Porsche 912 work shop manual. I got it with a car believe it or not it' s great so any body need any details from it I have broad band so I can scan it in and send but you will have to buy me a cup of coffee at a 912 meet. As it takes time to scan and and send and get an ear bashing from her in doors ( you on that computer again!!! got a laptop now heeee heee)
