[]How the *&!! do you get the fuel pipe (rubber ) on to the metal pipe?????

The metal pipe is coming out of the bunk head of the car and is above the steering rack. The rubber hose is then connected to the fuel finger that sits in the tank. So how the &%£!! do you get it on to the metal pipe that is coming out of the bulk head. Do I need to take the fuel pipe out of the car ???

please let me know cheers

Have searched through my library to no avail.
I am about to take out my tank to clean it out so would love any tips you may have. I was going to Por15 seal the tank but was advised against it, so its just a sloosh, which I guess will be easier with the tank out to do a proper job.
Cheers

Por 15 is great stuff with it you are either on one side of the fence or the other. i think it is great it did a fine job the person who told you it was rubbish can' t read. Because the ONLY way you can get it to go wrong is by NOT doing what it says on the tin.

I did how ever use a VERY high presssure jet wash to jet the in none of your garden 100psi rubbish a 4000 psi machine capable of up to 12000 psi. This cleared the tank like nothing else I tipped it out afterwards and the pile of rust was frightning loads of it. Do make sure you don' t jet the seal too much or at a lower presssure. Then I Por 15' d the tank to seal it and it is like new.

Great stuff.

I am still looking in to how to fit this pipe ANY BODY help please!!!!!

Mark

A-HA I was going to ask this question as i have s**T loads of rust in the petrol tank so where do i buy this por 15????

Any luck Mark?
I have found a few bits in a haynes resto manual but doesn' t seem to mention your prob. Let me know and I can send you the pics if you want.

No not yet Gav I have been busy on the other half' s Speedster the solex' s driving me up the wall . And then her Astra.......my 12 is just going to sit there for another year I think ... I only have to put the fuel tank in and this pipe and take it down for MOT ....just don' t get the time. I have had an idea of cutting the pipe (metal from inside the car and then jointing it witha rubber hose and clamps the same as you would do anyway at least then I can get the new pipe on with the clamps and it would be on right.

Does any body know if the metal fuel pipe that runs though the car all the way or is it jointed I am sure it can' t run all the way through it has so many bends??

I know I will post on the 911 page and see if any body else has had the same as it is the same with a 911.

im in the same boat m8 there is only a inch sticking out of the bulkhead so let me know how u get on

mike

An inch sounds like yours has been cut off my pipe is about 5 inches long it comes out the bulk head then shapes around the steering rack and then down towards the tank but not enough to get a grip on it

I must ask my mate about a pair of wings for you, I will call him tomorrow.

I am going to sloosh out my tank on Saturday. Just so I understand you correctly... the outlet of the tank is underneath so its impossible to fit the tube?
(not taken out the tank before so just checking) I can take some step by step pics if you want?

Cheers
Gavin

Gav the thing is if the pipe is old then it' s scrap. It' s a lot of work to replace at a later date.

when you look under the car at the rear of the tank there are 3 plugs 2 large 1 small.

The small one is the drain.

The two large ones are a blank plug and the other is the brass fuel filter. (fuel finger)

It is very delcaite so don' t bashit. ( cleaning this is very very easy. Don' t try cleaning it with anything other than Hammerite Degreaser) it' s the only o ne that works . I use this stuff all the time it is new to the market and boy does it strip grease old fuel any thing it' s got sodium Hypochride (can' t spell) we used to use this at work it' s great but be carefull.

Leave the finger in a bath of this stuff and walk away 1 day and it will all have just dropped off.

Right the fuel finger has a rubber fuel pipe attached to it this is the pipe to get it on the fuel finger is easy it' s the other end that' s the pig. It is on to a metal pipe and I can' t get access to it I got the old one off and that was a pig to get off to I just had to cut the edge . This pipe looks fine but it' s got to be 30 years old and therefor duff and a danger. Change it . We just got to get to know how to get it on the pipe. Then it is done for another 10 years....cool

Oh the Pet 5 got that ....there is not much on the lit for the 912 or 356 or Porsche that I don' t have all the good books about 50 sales brochures from 1954 + so I am well covered but still not any info that I need grrrrr.

I have a Genuine, not a copy of the Porsche 912 work shop manual. I got it with a car believe it or not it' s great so any body need any details from it I have broad band so I can scan it in and send but you will have to buy me a cup of coffee at a 912 meet. As it takes time to scan and and send and get an ear bashing from her in doors ( you on that computer again!!! got a laptop now heeee heee)

Got Alex from Retro motor company coming over in 10 mins we are going over to look at my 54 356 ( the guy Miggs got his green 912 from)
