Fuel pipes to fuel rail..

I'm finally getting round to fitting a new fuel rail and going to hive the injectors a clean. The fuel pipes going into the fuel rail could do with replacing, is it possible to make a fuel pipe myself using some push fit adaptors? If so what sizes would I need? Would a braided pipe need any heat insulation as it travels over the top of the engine?

Cheers,

Phil

I personally wouldn't risk doing a DIY job on such a critical component. High pressure fuel, hot exhaust just below.............

If they need replacing, i would recommend going to your nearest OPC and buying a new set.

I went to a local guy, used to be a 944 owner made me the 2 pipes plus return fuel tank line all with OEM fittings from Germany
£60

I Got mine done by a guy who works at Pirtek, perfect job better that Oem. Try your local hydrulics/hose specialist

Made my own using Goodridge Braided hose. I used standard bsp fittings with metric adapters. You can just see them in this photo. However any local hydraulic company should be able to make these up for you.

Colin do you remember what size the fittings were that you used?

Why use Pirtek when you can use Porsche?
When I had to replace the pipes to the oil cooler, I used Pirtek not Porsche because they were one-tenth of the price and a higher-quality hose.

Your local Pirtek will help you out Phil. And if you go on a quiet Friday afternoon and have a pocket full of cash then there may be a sizeable discount as well.

I haven't priced up the engine bay fuel hoses because I didn't need to replace mine but the ones at the back end were pretty reasonable from my OPC: £14.17 and £37.23 plus the Vodka and Tonic.

Maybe the engine bay ones are super dear and therefore an indy specialist could be financially a better route but I would suggest to the OP to try their OPC first.

Part of the reason in my case was that you could only buy the entire oil cooler assembly from an OPC, and I only needed one hose.

Mine run braided hose from the pump to the fuel rail and back to the tank.

That's the plan eventually, had an advisory on last MOT for slight corrosion on the rear pipe section.

I'm not going to have chance to pop into a shop to order the fittings as I'm working, could someone send me a link to the correct fittings as I can't seem to find the ones I'm after? Iv got the hose sorted but struggling to find the fittings online!
Any thanks in advance!!

Phil

The beauty of this system is that you can remove the pipes without having to drop the rear suspension. I'll have a look and get you the correct size fittings but you will need to go to a local hydraulic man to get the ends crimped unless you have the tool yourself.
