Fuel pressure regulator dying?

Hi,

Car is running a bit off, ie starts ok, but then gradually stalls. When i listen closely, i can hear some sucking llike sounds: a bit like a sharp intake of breath.

Could this be an issue with the fpr, as i've never heard this sound before?

Cheers
Spence

There's no smell of fuel in the cabin, though which would normally point to the tank breather. Wouldn't it?

no not necessarily[;)]

if there was a leak between the tank and filla cap you would smell petrol all the time because the fuel system is pressurized.

There are a few areas to check but if you suspect a fuel pressure problem you need to put a guage on the system to check the fuel pressure is to spec for your enginewhich I believe should be 2.5bar for a 2.5lt.

There are numerous detailed threads on how to do this if you do a search.
If you find the system is losing pressure things to check... FPR valve, injectors, fuel pump, non return valve, and of course fuel pipes
