Fuel Pressure Regulator Vacuum Pipe

Just discovered that the thin black pipe that runs from the fuel pressure regulator to the throttle (into a t-junction connetor at each end) was not joined into the connector at the fuel pressure regulator end.

Have pushed it back in, but curious as to what if any difference it would have made being unconnected?

Very rich idle as the vacuum signal normally brings fuel pressure down during idle / overrun / light throttle.
