When any of the engines of 944 lineage won't start the first thing to check is the DME relay. Having never owned the 2.5 litre 924 I can't say where the relay is located. It could be in the passenger footwell if the battery is under the bonnet or it could be under the fuse box/relay cover under the bonnet if the battery is in the boot, where it is on my 944 Turbo. I simply don't know but the important thing is to locate the DME relay and check it. Most prudent 924s/944 owners carry a spare DME relay in the glove-box. After that check all the induction hoses for splits and airleaks. Good luck, more learned 944 experts will post. If not put a post on the 944 forum.

hi new guy neil here hope i'm posting in the right place!! i've just bought a 86 924s of flea bay,got it home and now it won't start!! got a mate who's got a n/a 2.0 to look at it, sparks ok plugs are clean, no obvious leaks, but when you turn it on there's no 2 second whirr from the engine(the usual sound you get from the fuel pump as it sets itself up to start)checked the relay it seemed to "click" when the ignition was turned on,so is this a pump problem or relay problem?? on the drive home from picking it up there was a bit of a fuel/exhausty smell with the air vents open, would this have something to do with it?? also temp went up to 3/4 in traffic but came down again as you moved off,no milky oil under the oil cap hope i haven't bought a lemon

DME relay on the top row 2nd from the lhs in the passenger footwell-if you have got sparks & fuel then check the two engine sensor plugs/sockets rear of the cam covernear the bulkhead-mine regularly need a tweak-don't know why-but it will start 5 times out of 6 then nothing-tweaking or splitting these 2 connectors normally sorts it-if you crank the engine & the tacho needle bounces slightly, then this normalluy indicates the sensors are producing a signal to the DME-if no bounce then tweak!

Hi and welcome - you have a 924S and they are basicly a narrow bodied 1981-5 944. Does the tacho needle bounce when turning it over? You can also use the 944 forum which is a little busier the here. Thats where I'm usually found.
