fuel range always 999 miles on OBC

The OBC on my 993tt shows 999 miles all the time, no matter how much fuel is in there.

The fuel guage works fine as do all other OBC functions.

Anyone know what this could be? - I've just taken delivery so have been frantically searching on forums but I'm slowly coming to the conclusion it's an OBC fault.

Thanks Geoff - makes sense.

It's booked in to local Independant next week for a few things, this included. On another forum people suggested it may be the OBC rather than sender, doesn't make sense.
