OK so I'm interloping from another register here but more likely to find an answer from you SC guys. My car is a '76 Carrera 3.0 - 90% the same as an SC really.
Problem is it has burnt out a couple of fuel pump relays since standing over the winter. I have cleaned the relay, fuse and other visible connections but this hasn't curred the problem.
From what I read on Pelican, etc., the problem is likely to be the pump drawing high current, even though it isn't excessively noisy but maybe at 99K miles old there are other internal problems after standing for three months.
So, few questions:
1) Anyone had this problem before and what was the diagnosis and resolution?
2) What is the best way of testing the current draw from the pump (8A is the limit I am told)? WHich contacts and where?
3) If it is the pump that needs replacing, what other petrol pipes and filters, etc., should be cleaned out while we're down there and what parts are requried to do this?
Cheers
Alan
