Fuel tank MOT fail

As per title 'offside rear (at suport strap) fuel tank leaking'.
I presume:
(a) new or non-leaking second hand fuel tank required (original can't be sorted?)
(b) you have to drop the back end to get the fuel tank out? How big a job is this?

The early 944's had metal fuel tanks and the later ones had plastic. If it is an early car then it might be possible to weld-repair your original. However i'm not sure about the necessity for removal of the axel - you might be able to get away with just dropping the transaxel which is a quick job for someone who knows what they're doing.

However if you try PH Sportscars they might have a 2nd hand one. I've just picked up a set of almost brand-new fuel pipes from them - still got the OEM stickers on them they are so new. Unfortunately the car they came off was fire damaged - not a problem with the fuel lines thank god - so the fuel tank from that car might still be available and OK.
