Fuel Tank Protector fell off!

Not sure if that's the correct name but driving home the other night I started to hear some metal scraping then a bang as something fell off the car. I've been driving to work quite a bit recently and it looks like Edinburgh's pot holes and speed bumps have done some damage!

Pictures of the parts I found on the road are below, just looking for some advice, do these look like they can be used again or will they need replaced, anything else missing that I didn't retrieve? The parts catalogue shows another smaller strap so I guess I need that one too.

I drove home with no further issues but haven't used the car since, is it ok to drive around until this is repaired or was any of this holding the tank in?

This happened to me on the day I bought my 1st 944 16yrs ago! It looks like you've got all the parts except the bolt that passes through the hole on the strap. The "T" shaped bar slots into a cradle up high behind the axle/tank. The cover fits over the fuel pump & filter. Once you offer it up to the car it'll all become clear and you'll see the threaded hole where the bolt has to go.
Providing the pump & filter are securely attached you won't do any damage driving the car, the covers there to offer protection from impacts and from spray/dirt.

Same happened to me too except in my case the metal strap had corroded through. From what I remember there's supposed to be a rubber "gasket" between the strap and cover. Worth checking the wiring to the fuel pump whist you are in there, I seem to remember it was a bit tatty!!

The bolt and smaller strap were still attached to the car and the large strap was ok to fit back on which was just as well since Porsche wanted £151 + vat for that!

The same happened to me with the strap corroded away...scraping along and scared me to death.I replaced the strap off ebay and no problem since.

Seeing this I should probably replace the strap on mine as it's pretty corroded! Can't imagine it breaking is nice, must sound horrendous scraping on the deck [:-]
