Fumes....

New member
I have noticed the rather disturbing case of engine fumes leaking into the cabin of my 67' car...

This has got so bad of late, that I feel physically ill when I get out. I've left the car to one side until I return from holidays, but would be curious as to where this may be coming from.

post big reply on DDK but remove hoses from Exchangers and that will be a short term fix but need new ones by the sounds of it ,but get it fixed the Fumes are not good for you in any way......

Common complaint caused by the heating system failing (heat exchangers).

If you imagine a box around your exaust pipes that is used to heat the surrounding air which is fed into the cabin for your comfort it will give you some idea of where the fumes may be coming from. If you have a leak in the tube that goes through the heater box then exhaust will be coming into the car. VERY BAD.

Disconnect hoses and don't use the 'heater' and close the vents by your feet and get it sorted before Winter.

You may need new J Tubes and Heat exchangers, in fact if they have gone then I would guess the Silencer isn't far behind.

Job takes about half a day of swearing and scuffed knuckles, the high street exhaust shops won't have a clue.

Once again...Good news all round....

Gonna leave it sit for a while to take me a well deserved holiday....not taking Porsche for fear of dying in it from fumes! Not good...
