Funny Clutch Clunk?

Got the car .... everything tip top and great driver, except for a clunky engaging clutch ...

is this

a. Total rebuild replacement

b. minor take up adjustment

c. anything else

 
Hi Des. The clutch system is fairly uncomplicated - you have the hydraulic side with the master and slave cylinders with a hose in between, and you have the mechanical side at the clutch plate itself. Hopefully you have a hydraulic problem as both cylinders and the fluid can be changed for around £100 and an hour or so of labour.

If you have a mechanical problem at the clutch plate itself then I'm afraid the whole bellhousing has to come off to see if its the plate, the selector fork or anything else in there. This will take over 10 hours of labour so will be pretty expensive [:eek:] The clutch plate itself typically costs between £300 - £400
