funny noise from my engine

my car seems to have taken on a different tone recently !

it seems to have started making a "droning" sound, when the car is driving along and coming from the engine. The noise seems to fade when the clutch is down to change gear, and it sounds ok when stood still on tick over. There can be a bit of vibration felt through the accelerator pedal.

any ideas ?
 
Could be a coincidence but mine did this just before the clutch went. Check in the bell housing for signs of the rubber breaking down.
