The Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC) is running a "Future Classics" race series for cars from the 70s and 80s. Its a "mini-enduro" series for 1 or 2 drivers & the races are 40 minutes long; its good value for the clubman, too. The 2 litre -3 litre class features several 944s & I would say that they really are the car to beat. The top class (3 litre +) has a 944 turbo in it, along with some 911s. The opposition includes 2 or 3 Ferrari 308s, a Sierra Cosworth, some Alfas and even a few XJS - its a great series for the competitor and the spectator. the next race is on sat 9 may at Brands hatch if anyone is interested in going along.

Hi Andy, I have been thinking about this series a fair bit recently as a "way in" prior to hopefully crossing over into PCGB class 2. Low cost and of course its designed such that 2 drivers can share a car via the obligatory pit stop. I have heard that a few 944's have gone to this series and have been doing pretty well. Unfortunately we can't make that meet as my shell arrives back from EMC on Saturday. Definitely want to go and have a look at some of the other rounds.
They also are doing a Spa weekend which I imagine will be a fantastic jolly for those attending.

Neil, Hi. 944s seem to dominate the 2 litre to 3 litre class in Future Classics, although they have their biggest opposition yet in this class at Brands; an M3 has just made a late entry & so, along with the Ferrari 308s, there could be a real good inter marque battle. As an aside, I think that the over 3 litre class is an ideal place for 944 Turbos to race but we have only seen one of those out regularly.
The CSCC put on a well organised meeting & their racing is good vfm. We race at all the major circuits in the UK and, yes, we have an invite to Spa this year for a One Hour plus 1 Minute race. 75 cars on the grid, should be good.
I was hoping to join the FC grid with a 944 S2 myself, and looked at one at EMC which I really liked, but I just couldn't stretch the cash or persuade my driving partner that we really should go halves, sadly. I'll just have to stick to the sister "Tin Tops" series for the moment.
