FYI - puff of smoke on startup

Just a recap. I've been away for a while but my last post was about frequent puffs of smoke on startup and one prolonged cloud of smoke for about 200metres of driving. I had this checked out at the OPC as part of a warranty check and they couldn't see any issues other than perhaps a slightly high level of oil. They drained some off and (touch wood) not a single puff of smoke since, and I was getting them quite often beforehand. Maybe it's the good weather but I'm hoping the OPC sorted it.

Sounds like an overfilling problem, indeed. I'm racing a Boxster in the Porsche Club championship and last time out at Cadwell, after the har-left at the end of the pit straight and up the steep hill my car was pouring smoke on several laps. We worked out it was a overfilling issue and no damage was done. The engine management system also cut the power dramatically until the car was back on the flat.

I was well impressed at the oil pumping system the Porsche Centres have; we had a free health check at PC West London last Saturday and they simply looked at the electronic displayed bars in the car and then just dropped an oil pump in the car which delivered the right amount (it was the last thing they did, obviously making sure the oil was all settled back but making sure the engine was fully warmed up before hand).
