G Techniq, paint treatment

I have recently bought a 996 turbo x50 pccb, and I'm very happy with it. However being 3 years old the paint on the car has seen a fair amount of wear and tear in terms of small scratches in the lacquer and swirl marks from washing etc. The colour is altas grey, which is dark and so its hard to hide marks, unlike white and silver.

I had seen an article on pistonheads about a special coating that can be applied to paint, which gives a deep high gloss shine, that will last for a considerable time, and also make washing alot easier. So I rang the company G Techniq and spoke to a chap called Rob, who was particularly helpful.

I decided that I would try this treatment for my car, as I love a deep shine, and want my car to look as good as possible. Their workshop is just off the M25, so it was easy to find. On arrival I found that they had a nice clean tidy enviroment in which they work on the cars.

The first step was to clean the car down, and to degrease everything. After this rubber and plastic bits were masked off, and then the car was machined with a buffer for a number of hours by their highly skilled and competant technician. The car was then treated with their special coating that is applied extremely carefully. Finally my car is finished and looks amazing, deep gloss shine.

I can only report that these people are a pleasure to deal with, and as an enthusiast I was very happy with the way that they worked with my car, very respectfully and carefully. The cost of this treatment varies from car to car, depending on the condition of the paint to begin with, I suggest a quick call for some advice.

Time will tell how this treatment wears, but it think that it will be good for some time to come, and its always possible to have maintenance to top it up if required.

Give us an idea of the cost...

For a car like mine with reasonably good paint about £350-£400.

Just to add, cheaper and also more extensive treatments are available too.
