Galvanised body panels

Interestingly enough was covered in this (or last) month's Porsche Post - dedicated article on Porsche body / paintshop history and evolution.

Galvanising (or panel protection coating) began somewhere around late 80's and covered last of the 930's before fully galv 964 production.

I should read it rather than drool over the pictures, thanks for the info. [:D]
 

There was I slaving over a hot typewriter trying make a boring subject interesting - when all the members are doing is drooling over the pictures...hurumph!!

Seriously, galvanising was phased in through the early to late '70's, starting with the underbody areas and finishing with the entire body. Full details are to be found in last months excellent article in PP!

I guess I was following the next best leap of cathodic paint electrocoating which promoted and facilitated the use of advanced protective paints...

I found it a pretty interesting article - particularly as I'm having my (car) body soda blasted and repainted again and am expecting some panel corners/edges to have shown signs of corrosion due to thin coating or build up of dirt in those areas.

Who did you end up using for your body work?

I would be interested to have an idea of costs as my car could really do with a refresh and to sort out some rust issues.
