Galvanising on 924'944's?

Following on from the recent threads about rust on wheel arches and sills etc, was there a change in the galvanising process/policy etc that porsche used in the '80's at all?
Reason i ask i that my old '83lux 924 although it had several small dents and dings etc and the paintwork was fairly ropey in places she was relatively rust free apart from a tiny amount on the front valance. She was being driven all year round, 80mph per day and left outside in all weather - very different to my cab.
I always thought that with the exception of the very early 924's both the 924 and the 944 were fully galvanised the same.
I know that the galvanised metal doesn't last forever - but Did porsche "skimp" or change the galvanising process on the '44's?
Seems strange how several of our '44's seem to suffer the same fate with rust.

I think it stayed the same except the early 924 which was only galvanised up to the waistline or something.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I would suggest that using the 924 every day would be far better for it that storing like I'm guessing the cab is. Until very recently I have used my 944s daily and I have had little or no rust on either of the ones I have owned since rust because prevalent.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
