Can anyone recommend a good garage in or around Aberdeen to take a 92 968 coupe for a complete brake overhaul? I have had an experience with Bavaria Autowerke, and was not that impressed, as they have still not managed to fix a leak from the steering rack. Are there any hidden gems of a decent garage in this city?

The problem with 968 brakes is something called plate lift. If you are not familiar with it, do some research, as letting any old garage loose on these brakes, unless they also know about it, will only make matters worse. Only entrust this job to someone who knows what they are doing.

I would have a word with Scott Byers at Aberdeen OPC, they have always looked after me very well. [] They are also starting a Porsche Heritage sub division which charges lower labour rates. Worth a shout in my opinion.
I'm taking mine to Clark Motorsport in Kemnay next week, was quite impressed on the first visit but can let you know how I get on with some steering work. Also upgrading my brakes in a few weeks so might have some decent front calipers available if you happen to need them. If you want to try somewhere else in Aberdeen I'd recommend Carden Motors in Broomhill Rd, they're a small Honda place but I think one of their guys used to work on older Porsches, they run a good honest no hassle operation.
Scott Byers (Porsche Aberdeen)is first class-if he can't help call me 07785264313.
What are the upgrades and steering work Sandy? Only used the OPC in Aberdeen so can't help there I'm afraid.ORIGINAL: Sandy59 I'm taking mine to Clark Motorsport in Kemnay next week, was quite impressed on the first visit but can let you know how I get on with some steering work. Wondered if you were going for Movit brakes. Otherwise not sure how you could upgrade the GT3 brakes! Hoping I might be able to go to the meet and lunch but depend on family commitments - and weather. You going? Thinking of getting on the track again. Have any Knockhill or Nurburgring plans? In fact do any of the members up here do that kind of thing?
Unfortunately the car failed its MOT on the handbrake due to the fact that the handbrake shoes had disintegrated. So I have asked them to clean up the callipers fully at the same time and fit new discs and pads. The car was down at Hartec in Bolton for some engine work and this is now lumped on. I called Scott Byers and indeed he was very helpful and confirmed that they have a heritage rate of ₤59.50hr. I would very much have liked to attend the centre this weekend on the second but the car will still be in Bolton. Many thanks Sandy for the offer, I’ll let you know how things go, the brakes should be back to original state. Let me know how it goes.
