Gathering for a drive?

Normally I would be pleading with Gary this time of year to arrange a little gathering for a quick spin around the countryside. However, given how bad the weather has been for the last few weeks and the forecast is for the next few, I am not sure there is a point.

In fact, my Turbo hasn't been out of the garage for several weeks now! I think that's a record [&:]

All this heavy rain, snow and ice from global 'warming' it's spoiling all my fun [] Even driving with my sure-footed RS6 I have to tread VERY delicately - 50BHP is too much in this weather let alone over 500...

How depressing [:(]

It's just God's way of making us appreciate them even more when (and if) the better weather arrives! [:D] The perfect time to be without a Porsche, I'd say![;)]

I think I need to build myself a new garage with a car wash built in. Plus a bar, a jukebox and a pool table next to the Porsche - so at least I can admire it.

Yes, you certainly timed your 'outage' well Alan, despite the jump in prices.

I've been out [:D]
It was by private invite only....[;)] ....just kidding.

I was going to do a drive tomorrow but as Alex rightly says the weather doesn't look to promising, Its heavy snow and sleet listed for the next few days [:(]
Mind you I've had some of my favourite drives out in snow, the landscape is stunning....

At least I can do some planning for next year...

Sadly Gary, my motors last outing was on Essex Regions Sunday Drive of 8th October, and now look forward to a blast in the new year weather permitting!

Alex, your spoilt for choice!! you have a perfect garage I'd love an RS6. Were you tempted to get something a little cheaper and part ex the current 911 for the new PDK turbo?

Actually I was indeed tempted to get one of these instead of my current Turbo and RS6:

No interest in a PDK Turbo as mine is still better IMHO [:D]

The good thing about the old M64 engined Turbo is that it gives you the option of upgrading instead of having to trade-up each new model release. And the sky is the limit!

So if the 991 Turbo or even the 997.2 Turbo S gets a bit too close for comfort to my current car then I may have to fit an aerokit (factory or TechArt type1 - type2 is way too expensive) plus upgrade my Cargraphic/RS-Tuning Power kit to level 4 giving 624PS and 826Nm:

0-100 Km/h: 3.02 sec
0-200 Km/h: 9.06 sec
0-300 Km/h: 23.77 sec (compare to 997.2 PDK Turbo = 41.9 secs)
0-300-0 km/h: 30.84 sec
Maximal Speed: 326 km/h
Hockenheim short track: 1 min 06 secs

Such as this one for sale.

I am going to have to do wayyyyy more track days though to take advantage as I can barely use the power I have now on public roads.

By the way Alan - you might want to consider this if you are an audiophile:

The new Turbo does already sound better than the old one though.

Ooo, sunshine predicted for the next few days here! At last [:)]

Better remember to fill up with petrol today as 17.5% VAT kicks in again tomorrow and that means an extra 3p per litre at all the pumps.

I have 3/4 of a tank left but your right about filling up..[:)]

The weather does look good for the next couple of days... [:)]

I have to plot a run I'm doing for my local club, so may well do that Saturday 2nd..
If anyone fancies meeting up, it will start 5 minutes away from the NEC Birmingham (Shell garage [;)]), if no ones interested I may leave it till later in the month..
Its would be about 2 hours in length and to be very clear- nothing to do with the register or Porsche Club GB

Plus - the current lower ambient temperature also gives a saving of about 2.5p/l compared to the cost of filling up in the summer.

Gary

I quite fancy a ride out but cannot manage the 2nd if you do it later in the month any weekend other than 16th / 17th and I would be interested.

In response to your Happy New Yr message if the register organises anything for Le Mans I would be very interested prehaps including an organised drive down. I am thinking of going anyway but would much sooner go with the 997 register.

sorry for changing the subject of the thread.

Happy new year to all.

Geoff

Thats the way to use it Helen [:)]
I'm surprise Larry let it get that dirty though [;)]
Its nearly as dirty as mine []

No interest shown for the 2nd, so I'll wait until later in the month/Year...
