Gaydon 3 Register Event .. Update

Went to check out the site yesterday and it looks like it has the makings of being a great day out. It's dead easy to get to and the Heritage Museum is packed with great British cars (or should that be Great British Cars)?

To recap: skilled off roaders will be ferrying members in a Cayenne around the 'Wet' off road course and you can drive a pepper around the 'dry' course after a lap with an instructor.

Based on yesterdays drive in a standard, road going Cayenne, sports car it may be but off road 4x4 it certainly isn't!

Having looked at the tyres on Helen's car, I can understand why!! It's all down to tyre choice. The standard ones are meant for the road. They will soon get caked with mud and be as much use as a slick in standing water. Obviously, if you go for a road/off-road tyre, plenty available, you will certainly compromise the handling and ability to cope with rain on tarmac.

I've been running my 10 yo Pajero on BF Goodrich A/T's for almost three years -we're in a different league road performance wise and have had no probs in the wet, but off road -stunning, five up with dog and barely more than on tickover. No trick ABS or hill descent stuff on this !!

Would like to try a Cayenne on some extreme off road rubber -it should be unstoppable....

Also you need the one with the adjustable suspension height as the one I was in grounded more than once.
