Gear selection problems

[FONT=arial"]Hi all

Just got my SC back after a two year (yes two year) restoration project and was a bit disappointed because I'm finding the gear selection difficult. It seems like the gear selector lever is mis-aligned meaning that I have to move the gear stick slightly to the right of centre to get 3rd/4th gear.

Is there an easy way to rectify this problem?

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Chris

PS I'm a bit of a newbie so my apologies if this is an easy question...

[FONT=arial"]Hi Phil

Thanks for the quick response. I'll have a look into the manual. I have also read (since posting) that the problem could be due to worn bushes? Both worth a try any way.

I would normally send the car back but an imminent emigration meant I had to rush the restorers to get it finished in time. Don't really have the time to send it back now...

[FONT=arial"]Thanks both, all sorted.

Another problem I was having before the car went in for restoration is drastically reduced braking performance. I had hoped that the replacement master cylinder would fix the problem but now I have the car back, I have realised that it hasn't. The calipers are all fine (the front two were replaced before restoration due to a siezed piston) and the new master cylinder is functioning correctly.

I have been doing some research and seems like it could be the vacuum booster. Any idea (in the UK) where I can get a replacement part/repair? Anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks again

Chris

How many times can you pump the pedal before it gets hard once you turn off the engine?

Also, did you check the non return valve in the booster?
