Still having significant problems with gear selection, worst when returning to car after an hour or so, can't find reverse, 1st & 2nd is a real struggle. Had to select reverse with the engine off. Flywheel replaced at 93K. Do I need a new clutch or is a rebuild in order (or don't I know how to drive it)? Its kinda spoiling the fun!

Gear selection woes

I was talking to the dealer I brought my car from today. He said the car was doing exactly the same thing when he brought it. I understand he had the system flushed through and it was fine after that, not entirly sure whether the cylinders or flexible hose was changed or not.
Anyway, he promised me he will stand by the car and will get his (Porsche trained, who works at PC Reading) mechanic to sort out any problems for me.

Both of our 2 Porsches are normally driven on an alternate basis by Mrs A who has no problems with clutch pedal pressure, gear engagement etc.The 964 has done 40k miles in our ownership over 5 yrs starting from 55k mileage with no attention whatsoever to the clutch/flywheel.I ,(with the correct permission) give it a good "thrutching" now & again including the odd trackday,Le Mans(going next year) and find the gear shift/clutch no different than the 924S>I have changed the gearbox oil once in that period.Snatch changes are no problem at all.So I agree with others;sounds like the hydraulics of the clutch mechanism.
