Gear Selection

Can anyone help, I am a owner of a six week old S, I have only covered 500miles and was wondering if anyone new if the issue I have is new car related or just something that might need further investigation. Having only previously driven a tiptronic Boxster Im not sure of the correct "feel" of a Porsche gear change, when changing gear I get a knock from the pedal when it reaches the deselected position and additionally when changing gear after the clutch has "Bit" I get another differing knocking noise. Has anyone else had these issues with a new Boxster.
Thanks
Justin

Getting feedback through the gearlever is nothing unusual but what pedal are you talking about?

Justin ... You have a fabulous brand new Boxster so just pop down to your local OPC and ask them to spin it around the block and see what they say.

You paid new money and got a 2 year warranty so get them to check it out while you wait .... Good luck with your new car and I hope you will enjoy having 6 cogs to swap [:D] I sure do with mine [;)]

...clutch pedal, when changing gear sometimes getting knock when bitting the gear in addition heavier knock when releasing the clutch back to its resting place...might just be because parts need to bed in
Thanks, Justin

I suspect that you are not pushing the pedal down far enough.

Otherwise Robert (Daro911) has suggested the best course of action if you are still concerned.

JCB..

thanks for your advise, I took the car back to Lindbrook on Saturday, turns out this is a common fault with newer boxsters, so its going back for a pedal assembly re build under waranty

What exactly is the problem?

For a 'common' fault it's the first time I've heard of it.

All

Picked my car up yesterday and it was doing exactly this, took it out in the evening and it seemed fine. Will monitor over the next couple of days.

ME23RP, did they elaborate on the fault and whether it was doing harm, also how long will it take to rectify?

Cheers

BB

.dealer was very helpfull, is coming to collect my car next week, I was told by the "Senior Technician" at OPC that the fault was related to the springs in the pedal assembly and that there had recently been a batch of faulty ones, PCGB are aware of this and are investigating, the fault is intermittent and isnt one that would do other long term damage

Thanks

Justin
