Gear selector job cost

I'm looking at buying a 944 that may need the the gear selector replaced. I'm told it's on the top of the gearbox, approx £220 for the part & £120 for labour.
Are these ball-park figures?

Thanks in advance...
Gary

used to be closer to £80 for the part,

Had this done recently and part was £130 IIRC.

My description of the part was probably wrong,- quite probable I mean " Gear shift - gearbox end modification" as per the other current thread, - is it that you chaps are referring to?

Without knowing for sure, it sounds likely.

I'm hoping that someone will come up with some photos of the arrangement of the top of the gearbox, and then you will be able to see what goes on there ...

Hi

I think I may have the same problem with my 944.

Is the problem you have that the gear stick does not 'spring' back into the middle when you change gears??!

Thanks

Just done both ends, the UJ and Lever on the 944 race car, just be careful of the grub screw locking the UJ shaft into the intermediate shaft in the tunnel. Mine was snapped off by someone previously and we had to drill it out and re tapp the thread. All in the parts came to a little over £200. There is stil a little wear at the connection of the intermediate shaft and the pin on the new gear lever but it improved by 90%. (No excuse for missing a gear now!!!)

Did you use O/E parts or aftermarket?
