I've been trying to think of a way of honouring my late friend recently. We grew up together and were the very best of friends until a tragic accident working on his GT40 kit car killed him four years ago. Cars were essentially his life.

Of course I remember him inside, but I had a few small tokens given to me by his next of kin to remember him by as well. He has had a number of things done in his name, but I wanted to do something with one of these items that I have.

He used to work as an engineer building tank engines for the military. Durring his career he manufactured a gear shifter from a block of solid titanium. It is a very simple but attractive piece with a substanial weight to it, I will take a picture and post it up shortly. This was the shifer that he would have used in his car which was never finished.

I was thinking of replacing the stock shifter with this in my first 911 when I get one as a tribute to him, however I do not want to really move away from the OEM look?

Thoughts / Opinions?

I would of course keep the stock shifter if I changed it, I take it they are simple enough to remove?

Regards,

Steve
