Gear stick vibration at 60mph ish in forth

[FONT=courier new"]Has anyone experienced an annoying noisy vibration resonating through the gear stick at around 60mph It normally only happens in 4th/5th gear when cruising. It's only just started happening and with the car only having done 25k miles it's unlikely to be wear related is it...! Have also noticed that if you do not select 1st gear correctly ie. fully engaged then when power applied it can jump out of gear. Do not think they are related problems! [8|][FONT=verdana,geneva"]

have you by any chance fitted an aftermarket gearknob?

The gearshift has some appalling vibrations. The standard gearknob has a large rubber iscolator type bush built into it. Most of the aftermarket gearknobs do not. In my case the noise was caused by the metal to metal contact between the gearlever and the new gearknob. This problem is listed on the Rennlist forum and is very common. I got round it by wrapping the shaft of the gearlever with insulating tape prior to putting the new gearknob back on.
