Gearbox/Clutch Issue Again

Car been left for few months previously had the following symptons

On starting would not engage any gear, all gears selectable with engine off. After approx 15-20 mins gears would start to engage with the higher gear engagable first. Starting vehicle with a gear engaged and clutch depressed resulted in jump fwd and stall eg gear fully engaged. Once warmed through all gears engage correclty and drives fine

On returning to vehicle after a few months standing no gears selectable even after the 20 minute wait. The clutch pedal seems low too (possibly thats me having been driving loads of different cars in the interim) but does feel low without massive travel (maybe 5-10 cm)

Any ideas?

Many thanks ... what cost (ish) am i looking at for a Master/Slave cylinder repair/replacement?

Not sure of cost - have not had to do mine - but I remember posts on here where people have changed them themselves - so I guess it's a fairly quick job for an indie.

The master is relatively easy to swap (in behind the pedal box) but the slave's quite awkward to get to as it's on top of the engine towards the back left []. The bleed nipple is on the slave, so this makes bleeding a nasty job as well, it's all pretty well done by feel [][].

Around £150 for both cylinders plus fluid plus fitting. I would think only an hour or so labour for someone that knows what they are doing.

Many thanks for these responses - Can anyone recommend a good Indie in the Bristol Area - many thanks

In with Steve Bull, Devizes. Initial report is that it looks hydraulic based defect. Will find out for sure tomorrow. Will post results costs etc.

Steve (Christian) did my master cylinder a few years ago. I think it was about £75 for the part plus maybe half an hours labour. It's fiddly to get at, but not a massive job.

Here we go !!

Clutch Master Cylinder, Slave Cylinder and a Hydraulic Clutch Hose replaced (pin hole leak) and rectify the other issues (see below)

£346.70 (all in) seems pretty good to me (Steve Bull Devizes).

However, they asked me who had previously fitted the clutch (approx 18 months ago)as the job appeared sloppy at best (covers loose, speedo cable trapped etc etc etc) Would love to post this West London Indie Porsche Sales (where I purchased the vehicle) near Mill Hill name but wont for obvious reasons.

On the other hand very impressed with Steve Bull Devizes most helpful on phone, full of additional advice and recommends whilst also appreciating the costs. Thanks to the Forum users who recommended Steve Bull will definately use again !!!!! An Indie who appreciates these cars are our pride and joy and has equal pride in what they do for us.
