Gearbox oil

What grade of oil is best to put in the diff/gearbox and how much do I need? At some stage in my cars life, the gearbox oil has been changed but the dumb sap who did it cross threaded the sump plug, and rounded the head on the bolt. So the box is leaking and the nut is proving to be a pain to remove. I've ordered a new sump nut from those good fellows at Porsche-apart, and will hopefully be able to replace said pain in the a*se nut and oil.
